Camp Nanowrimo has started!

National Novelcampnano14 Writing Month, or Nanowrimo for short, always runs in November. I’ve been doing it for several years and I’ve always had a blast because it’s so much fun.

Camp Nanowrimo is a themed version of Nanowrimo that takes place in April and July. And since it’s July, camp has started!

The challenge is the same: write 50,000 words in July. That’s not as scary as it sounds. If you do the maths, it works out to a rather manageable 1,613 words a day.

And Camp Nanowrimo is a bit more of a team effort. Instead of forums, you can join a cabin, which is a team of writers who “stay” in the same virtual cabin to cheer each other on! And suffer together, of course.

You don’t have to write in English, or even in a strict prose format. You don’t have to be based in North America, and it’s free to join! You can donate if you want, but you still get all the same web features either way.

I’ve sort of stumbled into this session of Camp Nanowrimo, so we’ll see how it works out for me haha. I’m on track so far, almost at today’s 3,200 words!

If you haven’t already signed up, it’s not too late. Find more details at Camp Nanowrimo’s excellent FAQ page. You can follow @Nanowrimo too. This session of Camp Nanowrimo runs until 31 July, so go go go!
